Assumption of mortgage after death

My wife passed away in February and in her will has left everything to me. The house we live in (in Georgia, U.S.A) was in her name and I need to transfer it to my name. I also need to transfer the mortgage to my name (assumption of loan/mortgage). Do I need to pay closing costs? Approximately how much? Thanks.

Depends on local laws and rules of that country. It is unlikely you will anyone knowledgeable on Georgia's laws, quirks and products here. You are best asking the lender what needs to be done.

Sorry for your loss

This is predominately a UK forum.
Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”
• I did not know that.
• Could you recommend a similar website for the U.S?
