Has anyone got any tips on how to do this please?
Do you just have to put it on your face or do you have to mix it with something?

I use it as is - as a night cream every now and then. It is also good as a cleanser.
When I took my boys home from hospital I did not bathe them but topped and tailed gently washed their umbilical stumps with olive oil. The midwife was impressed at how quickly they healed. Only then did I put them in bath. Even then, as they had such delicate skin I would rub them all over with olive oil and gently wipe it off with a damp cloth, then massage some more in. They loved it and to this day enjoy having their heads massaged. Talk about being good enough to eat! I had to stop when they got too wriggly!
Olive oil also helps with mild eczema - at least it did with my boys.NSD 0/150 -
I've rubbed olive oil on my face like you would a face mask, left it for a while and then washed the residue off in the bath/shower. I've also done the same with dry skin on my body, and my feet by slipping on a pair of cotton socks so I didn't make a mess on the floor!
You can also rub olive oil through dry or damp hair, then leave it on for a few hours and wash off as normal. I've got long hair, so I fasten it up otherwise your clothes get oily. Leaves your hair looking lovely and shiny, and it's much cheaper than buying those tiny hot oil sachets, especially as I need to use 2-3 of them on my hair! Here I go again on my own....0 -
Not recommended if you have greasy skin though...I once tried it on my face and came up with a crop of spots a few days later.
Very nice all over the body after a bath though, just wear old clothes while it soaks in or you will ruin your good stuff.0 -
I've read that a certain Jerry Hall uses oil and her skin.
So that's her secret eh? (rushes out to buy oil.......)

My oldest cat suffers from dry skin and scraggy fur now she is aged. I have found that warming a drop of olive/almond/veg oil in my hand, then stroking her has started to improve the condition of her coat and skin. If it works for cats...;)Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Thanks for all your thoughts.
I might give this a try. What type of olive oil would people recommend? Would extra virgin oilive oil be the best?0 -
I use it as a night cream. Just rub a small amount in hands then over face a little goes a long way. The stuff you want can be bought at the chemist it's not the same as the cooking stuff as it has extras in it. I think I pay about 1.70 for a small bottle but lasts ages. I really helps as I have dry skin.0

Olive oil doesn't need to be mixed with anything - neither do other oils really.
For a real threat, now and then I put two tablespoons of oil in a very hot bath and have a soak, careful to keep my hair clear of it. When I get out of the bath, the oil which has formed a thin veneer on the water surface, will line my entire body, which does wonder to the skin. Done in the winter, this keeps me a bit warmer for the rest of the day, because oi/grease insulates.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Try adding a tsp of honey to a tbsp of olive oil, rub it into your hands, cover them in plastic bags and relax for half and hour (watch Eastenders maybe !!!!)
Leaves your hands lovely and soft0 -
My mother always told me to use Extra Virgin - you can buy it quite cheaply - as this one contains more of the active ingredients and in theory, is less likely to be adulterated.
I also used to add a teaspoon of oil to my babies pureed food once they were over six months old. I've been told thatolive oil contains amino acids that are very similar to thos found in breast milk but need to be taken raw.NSD 0/150
