hi there! i had a mortgage about 7 years ago with an ex partner and for one reason or another we had to have it voluntarily repossessed, the house since sold and we ended up with a 35000 shortfall which i obviously had no way of paying,i have not heard off the company for 5 years and was wondering if it would be wise to try and apply for another with my new partner??

Short answer is no.
Have you checked your credit file? Mortgage debts can be chased for 12 years I believe - rather than the usual 6 (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), and the surrender will likely show in the CML section of the credit file.
A better idea might be to work out how you're going to find the 35k that you're liable for?0 -
You owe still owe 35k with the ex.
Won't be accepted anyhow.0 -
I suggest that you read this factsheet then have a chat with National Debtline.
