Buy new cushion pads or make feather proof covers?

I've got a couple of lovely large feather cushions. However the feathers poke through, which is really uncomfortable and they're getting everywhere! I can either buy new pads.. a better quality feather pad or synthetic. JL do them for a tenner. Or I could make a thick inner cover that will stop the feathers getting through. I'd have to get 55 x 55cm pads so the covers would be fairly large. Anyone got any ideas of the types of fabric that would prevent the feathers getting through or would it be easier/cheaper to just buy the new pads?

Thanks

You can buy down/feather proof cambric material. It would be cheaper than buying new pads. Lots of fabric shops sell it, try google for one near you. :)

Ahh .. I might have some of this... but I'm not sure! I've googled it but its hard to tell, but what I have is some thick linen like cream material. It was fairly cheap. Would that be cambric?

Is all cambric feather proof or is there a specific type?

    thanks

It could well be. I'd go and have a look at some in a fabric shop and compare it to yours.

All cambric should be feather proof.

I've actually used the material and made the covers. It cant be cambric because the odd feather is already starting to poke through! However its so much better than before. I'll still get some of the feather proof material next time i'm in town. To think i nearly bought some new cushion pads!!

    Thanks.
