my partner was issued a default in october 2006, he also had a iva which finished last year.
we're hoping to by our first home early next year, we both have fairly good salaries and my credit is spotless... will his history affect us applying for a mortgage next year? I believe the default will be automatically removed in october this year... will the lender see his bad history still?
many thanks in advance for any help.

Default should be gone from the credit record, and presumably the IVA as well.
However, if the lender asks in their application whether he has been subject to an IVA in the past, then he is obliged to answer "yes" and that may effect it to a greater or lesser degree.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
