Black forest gateau cupcakes?

I'm looking for a recipe for black forest gateau to make as a treat for my gran, does anyone have one they would be willing to share?

Prefer one that can easily be made as individual portions (cupcake style) as gran has a tiny appetite.

Many thanks :)

I recently made the ones that are on the bbc food site and they turned out lovely, they didn't last long as everyone ate them!

What a lovely treat for Gran :)

Yummy, for anyone who likes cupcakes for the jubilee street party I made rocky road cupcakes. Just made normal chocolate bun mixture, when cooled covered in melted chocolate then giant chocolate buttons, mini marshmallows, twirl bites and some galaxy bubbles (think thats what they are called) went down a storm with the children and adults (especially the mums)

  • When I made some black forest cupcakes for a charity thing at work, I got a squeezy bottle with a nozzle on it and filled it with black cherry jam that I'd warmed in a pan to make it a bit runnier, then sieved. Then I could put some jam into the centre of each cake. You could always add a bit of kirsch or cherry brandy to the jam if you wanted.

This worked well on the lemon meringue ones I made too, with lemon curd in the middle.

I don't care that Black Forest gets a bad rap as being "so 70's", I love it!!

I recently made some muffins to bribe people at work- used my normal recipe, substituted 1tbsp flour with 1 tbsp of cocoa, then instead of adding choc chips (or whatever), added the same weight of coarsely chopped up dark chocolate and dried sour cherries. They were a truimph- but I like the jam idea above too! It would be easy enough to split them and pipe in whipped cream, or how about a quick 10 seconds or so in a microwave the warm them through with single cream over it?

    Mmm, feeling peckish now....:p

I often add jam or lemon curd to muffins by layering the mix. A dollop of mix, then about a half teaspoonful of jam with another dollop of mix on top. You could probably do this with the cherry jam. I like the idea of the sieved jam in a squeezy bottle for special cakes but I'm usually doing these things under duress so quick is better for me!

I put jam in my fairy cakes sometimes, but I just blob it on top before putting them in the oven, and it works its way down during baking.
