6 year debt rule?

So I have an old debt with paragon on my file it was never defaulted by paragon but it is 9 years old it just keeps updating saying late payments. I have contacted paragon via equifax and they agreed it is statute barred but they can still look for payments from me. My question is will it ever come off my credit file or does it just stay on there?...thanks.....by the way I have received no communication from paragon since 2003 although they claim to have tried to contact me.

Smoogy - your not the only one in that kind of situation. I have a barclaycard debt that isnt statute barred, as Im on a DMP - HOWEVER, it is still being registed as "ag" (agreement to pay) - which is only a temporary thing from what I can find out. 6 Months after the AG, the debt should have either been defaulted - OR re-rolled with the agreed monthly sum and registed as green. In fact the AG has been registed every month for the last 11 years.

Im currently trying to get BC to remove the debt from my credit file - as I believe is should have been removed after 6 years - or Im being discriminated against. Someone whio just "ran away" from the debt would have been defaulted and it would have gone fromt heir file 5 years ago. Im making an attempt to pay yet Its still a negative onmy CF after 11 years.
