Need some help with DCA

Hello (hope this is in the right place)
I have a problem with 2x DCA's and do not know what to do.
1) I have a recieved a TXT from GBP Solictors LLP, saying contact us a matter of urgency on 01789 404782 quote ref xxxxxx. I found an email address and emailed them asking for info on what it was about but they asked me confirm security details. Which I wont.
I googled them and from what I read they seem the real deal and also pretty ruthless in in getting CCJ's.
2)A letter from Lowell saying I owe Shop Direct(Littlewoods) £1100 and they have been ringing my home phone and mobile. I told the man on phone that I wouldnt confirm my name or DOB as I don't give those details out on the phone to anyone and I didnt know who he was.
I thought I had closed the Littlewoods acc in 2010 when I split up with my ex and am now worried she may have used it then. I moved house then too and a few times since in the past 2 years. I am now settled with a new partner and this has caused a huge row as we are getting married soon. I don't know what to do. I know I owe money to Capital One credit card and Lloyds TSB (old current account that I went £150 overdraft a couple years ago when my life fell apart).
I am not condoning that I owe money. I suffer from depression and tend to hide from things but I am trying to sort this out, as we will be looking to buy a house in the future and I know my credit score couldn't buy me a matchbox.
Could anyone offer advice please.
Thanks

hi was the account in joint names ??????
if it was not and it was in your name only and your ex has used that account then thats fraud and you can deal with this with the police
if it was a joint account and items that have been ordered have not arrived at your address that you currently live then if you can prove the items have been recieved at you ex's house you might be able to challenge on that grounds you might that way get half the debt passed to your ex.
Its always important to remember to close joint account if you separate to prevent this in the future just a bit of friendly advice:D0 -
Hello. I have recently been in a similar situation with Iqor... I found that calling them just caused stress, as they would look to set up a monthly payment but they would push for the highest monthly payments. I work for a utility company, and we would never issue a ccj unless there is 2 or more months of non-payment (even just £1.00 per month would prevent a ccj). Your best bet is to ignore the outbound calls, or if you answer politely explain that you have written in. Write a short letter, simply say you can afford x amount per month, tell them the date of the month that they will get your payment, and ask for their bank details. Also ask them to send you an income and expenditure form. Fill this in and send it back. If they come back to say the offer is not acceptable simply say you cannot pay anymore. 9 times out of 10 they will accept the offer, and leave you in peace. Tbh, as you have a couple of creditors you may be better off contacting CCCS. It's free and easy to do it online. Hope you get this sorted out :-)0

Sorry to be so picky. Utility Companies CANNOT issue CCJ's. All they can do is apply for CCJ's - ie take people to court. Only Courts issue CCJ'sI work for a utility company, and we would never issue a ccj unless there is 2 or more months of non-payment (even just £1.00 per month would prevent a ccj).
Why do I make an issue of this? It is because people come on here and say "Such and Such Co issued me with a CCJ". And you never know whether Such and Such Co actually took the poster to court and won - or whether they are in reality in the process of taking the poster to court. So you never know what the situation is that needs the advice.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. 1) Have they written yet? If there is a serious issue, then they will and you will be able to then see what it is about. Or just tell them to write.
2) When was the account first taken out?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

1. If genuine they will write a letter to you.
2. If the agreement was taken out some time ago, why don't you send a CCA request for a copy of the original agreement?0 -
Hi,
why not get a copy of your credit file online from equifax or one of the others. Most do 30 days free trial and then cancel it.
this will tell you who owns the debt(s). Then you can contact the owners of the debt(s) directly and get to the bottom of why you are having the calls.0 -
Ive sent the CCA letter to Lowells today but not sure on the GBP one as they may have written to my old address but no way of knowing. Really sweating on this one

UPDATE! Lowells
I sent the CCA letter and then the follow up letter (after failing the 12+2 days) and they have acknowledged them but no agreement, just that they have placed account on hold awaiting update from lender. Now surely they are stalling. Any advice please!0
