if he's happy to low carb how about frittatas/ baked omlettes - with mushrooms, bacon, cheese etc in. I like these cold as much as warm. Make a big one and cut into wedges, wrap individually and freeze - take one out in the evening, defrosted in time for a breakfast on the run. if your not low carb they are nice in a roll with a squeeze of ketchup too!

How about trying Twink's Hobnob recipe, you can always add bits of dried fruit to it to. They will help curb his appetite because of the oat content.

The basic ingredients are below but you will find lots of details about it here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/471992 in the old style forum.

    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz margarine
    1tbsp golden syrup
    1tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda

Instead of making them as individual round biscuits you could press the full mixture into a tray, mark and break into fingers when cooked.

    ;)
