Changing Mortgage Product

I currently have a sub prime tracker mortgage with birmingham midshires. I am starting to worry about the interest rates getting higher and worried if they went so far i wouldnt be able to keep up with the repayments. If i contacted the Customer Retention Team and told them i wanted to remortgage elsewhere would they be able to offer me a better rate or would i be better looking elsewhere? Also would i be better adding the early repayment charges to my new mortgage if i got one. Thanks

Ask your current lender for deals available as you can switch deals easier than lender.

if you are on a sub prime mortgage I'd be surprised if you can mortgage away much cheaper than BM. Once your rate ends they will normally allow you to switch to a "prime" rate with them, as long as you are paying on time, so they should be your first point of call.
