Shampoo

Hello!
Just wondering if anyone can let me know a good shampoo for a very dry scalp, but which is also good for coloured hair?
My scalp has gone dry as I don't use conditioner very much, but my hair goes really fine when I do.
I know vosene is good for it, but am sure someone mentioned that it can the strip the colour off your hair, and I've not long coloured it, so don't want to risk it!
Any recommendations welcome.
Thanks

Have you tried SLS free shampoo? Easy on a dry scalp and doesn't strip your colour.

I use Johnson's baby shampoo cos you can't get anything more gentle than that.

    Whats your budget?

I've used Pureology in the past and found them great, specificly designed for coloured hair they have a few varieties depending on what you want to achieve with your hair. They aren't cheap though, they do last for a long time but maybe better for a birthday/Christmas present.

Aveda are another option to try (again more expensive) they tend to stick to botanical ingredients so can be easier on your scalp though check with the assistant/website first. The bonus is with the more expensive products, its often possible to take things back for a refund or exchange if your having reactions.

l'Oreal have recently bought out a new range called Everpure which I've seen in Superdrug and will no doubt be available elsewhere. Its made without SLS which means it should be more gentle on your scalp and hair- so less worries about colour fading. I found though that I needed a leave in conditioner much more then normal though which is possibly due to not having any silicons in the conditioner either.

Some others have tried Conditioner Only washing where they no longer use a shampoo or only use a shampoo once a week whilst using a conditioner alone every other wash, its suggested using a silicon free conditioner is better to prevent build-up shampoos would have partially dealt with.

If your finding your hair has changed from being fine to being very irritable then its worth trying to look for a cause, could save you lots of trial and error anyway! I'd look at your food, your stress levels, even things like your fabric softener/laundry wash (towels, bedding, tops...etc).

    Hope you get it sorted.

I, too, have a very dry/sensitive scalp, and colour my hair - I can't bear having grey hair.

I tried Oilatum shampoo and found it the best I've ever used. Tried Phytopaisant but was extremely disappointed with the packaging and the results, so at £10 a bottle won't bother with that.

I find my scalp is awful about 3 weeks after something stressful. I can't cut out the stress, so what can I do Jennie?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

I have fine hair too, and used to have an itchy scalp. I switched to the "conditoner only method" after reading about it here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2080877 and have been very happy with it in terms of comfort and its effect on my fine hair.

    I use Sainsbury's Basics conditioner.

You'll know if it works for you from the very first conditioner-only wash so it might be worth a try.

It is more than likely - sorry if this is stating the obvious - that the colour is irritating your scalp. This is the first sign that your body doesn't like this chemical treatment; you need to be careful, this could escalate into something a lot more serious.

I have been colouring my hair for years - and always had a dry, itchy scalp - until a few months ago when it suddenly got worse. It was like my scalp was on fire and it felt like insects were crawling all over it, it has taken me months to get back to normal.

There are plenty of worse experiences reported on the internet because of allergies to PPD. It would be worth researching different colour options that are less harmful before thinking about shampoo.

By the way, ask any hairdresser about Vosene, they will tell you it's awful stuff that does more harm than good!
