Coloured wedding dress...to dye or not to dye?

Hello brides
I am hoping to get some opinions. Having already bent my OH's ear until he's thoroughly sick of all things wedding (only 26 months to go :rotfl:) I am seeing other outlets for my wedding fever!
I just can't imagine myself in a white or ivory dress. It just isn't me. I am a full colour kind of gal! I would love to wear an emerald green dress. The trouble is, all the green dresses I've seen are hideous. I am in love with this dress, except obviously for the whiteness. Would it be absolute madness to buy a white wedding dress and dye it? Does anyone have any experience of fabric dye...do you generally achieve a good result? I can only imagine how awful it would be to ruin a £500 dress by a dodgy dye job.

Second question, to go with my emerald green dress I'd like to dress the rest of the bridal/ grooms party (3 bridesmaids, 2 groomsmen, 1 grooms lady, flower girl, ring bearer...Oh, and the groom!) in mismatched outfits in neutral shades of cream, beige, nude, blush and grey. There are a few examples on here, loads more on wedding Bee. The idea is that my bright green dress sticks out against all the neutral tones....do you think that would go?

I think you'd struggle to dye it as it's viscose & nylon
Best to look up dye instructions - I think they work best on natural fabrics such as cotton.0 -
It didn't occur to me that the fabric might make a difference...it's a good job I asked!0

Yeah, I remember looking at doing the same initially & my dress maker explained it to me, but I can't remember exactly what does & doesn't work.
I've just checked the dylon website & they suggest you CAN dye viscose

My dress maker said you should always to a scrap test first.0 -
Thanks. I don't really like any of their greens though :undecided
Did you/ are you wearing a coloured dress then?0 -
I didn't in the end, although I did consider it.
I always wear bright colours (the name is a clue
) so I figured I'd never get the chance to wear a white (ish) dress. But I had bright shoes & a massive multicloured bouquet instead. 0 -
If I do wear white I'll go down that route too.0
