We've got a hoover but not as powerful as yours and we are contemplating if we should get a carpet cleaner instead. Any idea how much it'll cost?It is carpetted all upstairs and laminated downstairs. We have bought a carpet for downstairs which my dad is fitting for us.
The upstairs carpet, I just borrowed by mums hoover which could suck the moon out of the sky and just did a couple of thorough hoovers!!0 -
thanks for your reply.
Fair enough but I still don't quite agree with the Mortgage fee imposed by my solicitors.
Besides the bank TT fees, do you pay any other fees to your solicitor with regards to the funds from your mortgage lender?
And speaking of TT fees, what exactly is it for? I assume its fees for transferring the funds from mortgage lender to my solicitor's bank account.
I remember reading a section on my AIP that my lender will charge £28 for CHAPS. Shouldn't I be charged once? Or I am confused with the 2 charges?Solicitors fees will only include the time charges for the solicitor to deal with your file. Eg reading documents, telephone calls, time spent writing letters to you and others etc.
Any other costs that the solicitor has to pay out on your behalf, eg the Stamp Duty fees, the banks TT fee to transfer money quickly, etc they have to list individually as disbursements so the cost for their time and work is clearly visible. These "disbursements" are never included in the solicitors fees.
Hope that helps a bit.0 -
Generally speaking the fee for TTs is £30.0ish
ie your lender charges £30 to transfer the funds to your Solicitor
Your Solicitor will charge you £30 to transfer the funds to the Seller
In the case of a remortgage with many debts to pay off the Solicitor will charge you £30.00 to transfer to each of the companies you are paying off.
Not sure what she means by the following
"She said Mortgage fees is actually a handling fee, to transfer funds from my mortgage lender into the my solictor's bank account, and then forward to seller's lender. Why should they charge me £111.63 to allow the funds to sit in their bank account and gain a few days interest? "After all the searching life is what i make it!0 -

brannyrhino,
thank you for your reply.
Here's the reply from my solicitor regarding the mortgage fees
"Mortgage fees are our fees for handling mortgage offer, again, such as approval of the offer and enquiries."
Also, my solicitor is charging us £176.25 to obtain a Deed of Covenant.
Are these charges excessive and over the top?0 -
my solicitor gave a quote and stuck to it. The only extras were £3 to download some deeds and the £30 CHAPS fee.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
