Hi azjh
Ring the tax credits people about the paper round question, they are very helpful and pleasant. You can certainly work more than 16 hours without losing your tax credits as I work almost full time and I get them.
Your phone/internet costs look high - could you shop around for a better deal?
Good luck with selling the toys and clothes. I did a carboot sale yesterday (in the snow - doh!), my daughter and I made £60 between us, and I'm sure we'll do better another day when it's not so cold. Have you had a go at listing on Amazon yet?
Good luck with it all - and very best wishes for your health, really hope all goes well at the appointment on Friday.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hi ajzh77
Well done on the start you've made, it puts my feeble efforts to shame!
Just a couple of points. Don't buy a tumble dryer yet. have you got a Freecycle group in your area? Basically, members list what they've got to offer and people who want it contact them. It's all free and usually you'll have to go and collect it but that's the only expense you'll have. It's amazing what nearly new stuff people dispose of. I've managed to get a nearly new VCR, and a microwave used less then 6 times(and given away because the member was having a new fitted kitchen with one included!)
You can post 'Wanted' requests too. It's worth a try anyway. Just follow the link, find your local groups, register and off you go.

I've sold several books on GreenMetropolis in the past but it isn't exacly quick. I've still got about 80 books listed there and haven't sold one since January. It comes and goes really but as most of the books listed on there tend to be popular titles they have loads of copies of each. eBay or Amazon would be better if you'd like to realise the cash quickly. I got most of my book-selling advice from various threads on the website so have a look around and I'm sure you'll find a way of selling that will suit your.
Good luck to you and your family0 -
Have put some of my books on that Green Metropolis, we'll see how that goes.
My tumble dryer only cost me £15, but as we have no heating and lots of kids we really need one to dry the uniforms and stuff for school. I know it's a bit of a 'luxury' item but we can't afford to have wet clothes lying about our house.

Have applied to the bank for a pin n. and password, so I can go online and look up the fees i've paid. Perhaps I can claim some back? It's all extra isn't it?

Got my amended tax credit letter today, and I get an extra £120 a month till July! (After that baby is over one and it goes down to £575, but still more than we're on now...!!!)
Just as well as MOT due next month!

I can't believe I have been a member here for only 2 weeks. I have learnt so much! I have written my letter to send to the Woolwich with regard their evil fees, I have reactivated my Piggy points account, which was empty as they had deleted all my points, but actually won a triva quiz yesterday, so have enough points for a boots voucher!
I have also applied for a new boots card, having lost mine AGES ago, and will go 'Bootsing' thanks to the tips I have picked up on this site.
I am also now going to save my Tesco vouchers towards a holiday, rather than using them to buy food. Is anyone in the Christmas club? would it be worth saving them up and not being send them to resist the temptation of spending them? I'm also looking into this card plus thing too.
I can't thank this site and you people enough for the things I have learnt here!!!!!

He hasn't got one....the idea was, he looked after the kids while I worked full-time, then baby 4 appeared -as if by magic!- and I reduced my hours, yet somehow he is still here at home!! To be honest, due to my health I can't do the school [STRIKE]run [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]walk[/STRIKE] stagger ! due to my asthma, so I need him for that, and we need to watch my DS1 in shifts as he is, shall we say 'a bit hyper' and needs 24 hour supervision. I generally wake at 4/5 am as my husband goes to bed. We're lucky if 'the boy' sleeps 3 hours a day. He destroys things, draws on walls etc, so we need to watch him.(he tipped all my coffee on the floor the other day, I had to go without cafine for hours, things were tense I can tell you!) He also can't be left with the baby, (he can get 'bitey/pinchy') so if we want showers, the loo, to make food, we need someone watching him. Personally I think he is austistic (he is 3, but can't talk, flaps and screams a lot) but these things take ages to diagnose (my nephews both have it and are 10/7 and just diagnosed)
Anyway, that is why we live on tax credits/child benefit/my meager wages. Once baba is 18 mths or so, I might try to go back full time, but they are looking at redunancies in our place, so I might just send him out instead!
I would like to apologise for my awful spelling, grammar and (non)use of paragraphs.
Need to get them ready for church now, (another use for hubby, I don't drive!) I've put up with him for 13 years, I may as well keep him!!:p

I phoned telewest (Now Virgin) and asked what their best deal was...now I'm paying £10 a month less. Waiting for my £20 cheque from Mutual points.
I'm considering phoning Barclay's and asking them to increase my credit limit, and transfer OH's balance onto it. I would be paying the same per month, but would save interest wise in the long run.
And I have to have my foot biopsied on Wednesday - bit scary! But we have a holiday to look forward in April...
