Can you make a living selling gift hampers?

Hi all
I'm just looking for a bit of advice really. I'm a stay at home mum to my 2 boys and hubby earns all the cash. I'd like a little extra income for us all.
I've made some gift hampers and a nappy cake in the past and the outcome was really good. Does anyone make a living doing this and would maybe be able to point me in the right direction or even just tell me if its worth doing?
Thanks

Have you had any ideas about where/how? who? how much? specific/general?
It's something I've been thinking about so would also be interested in your thoughts.
Our town centre is now setting up market stalls on one of the main walkways, one was selling knitted things and sock monkeys, another with iced cupcakes and another with hand made ( I think) toiletries. I did think at the time that gift hampers would fit in, even if only as a showcase for the specialist one offs but like you I'm wondering if the margins would make it a profitable business.
I have been looking around for vessels to put the products in, there are a few on the H&M site which could be useful.

I would suspect that gift hampers (indeed gift anything) is hugely dependant on special occasions (e.g. Father's Day), particularly Christmas and you will be up against a lot of competition. If you're good, you could probably make some money out of it, but I doubt it would be an easy business for your main income.0

My Mum made gifts hampers and Nappy cakes for a while, she didnt do awfully well from it, I think there were a few problems, where to sell was the biggest problem, she sold quite a few to family and friends which was fab but then selling to a wider market was an issue. She couldn't afford a shop and didn't bother with Ebay as not only were there alot on there but the fees from Ebay and Paypal swallowed profit. So she tried carboot sales but people were not willing to pay the asking price, we also tried craft fairs, these were probably the best bet but firstly you have to have insurance (pubic liability) and then some would not let us attend as they didnt consider Nappy cakes and gift hampers a craft. She now sticks to selling to family and friends, its not enough to make a living though.Total 2019: £3972 - Best win this year £3000
2018 total £4062/2017 total £2260/ 2016 total £2025/ 2015 total £3809.0 -
Ive seen lots of people selling nappy cakes and gift hampers on the local facebook selling pages but it seems like everybody and their mum are selling them these days so I dont know if you would make that much money from selling them0
