Abilty To Settle, Unable to Contact Creditor (Virgin Media)

I'm having a rather annoying problem with Virgin Media. I have a default on my report (on all three agencies) from three years ago. It is for £59. After having my light bulb moment two months ago, I have been getting back to grips with my debts. I currently have £4000 debt owed on ten various accounts with varying amounts.

Virgin are listed next to the default on all the agencies, so I don't believe it has been assigned to a DCA, however, whenever I try to contact them to pay it off I can not, as I no longer have any of the account details and without those they don't want to know. For such a small amount compared to the other debts I owe, I just want to get rid of it. I have tried online through the "contact us" pages, but without account number and password they don't want to know. I tried through their twitter account and they said someone would contact me, however I tried that but as I didn't have any account details again, they didn't want to know. I really don't know what to do next, or who to contact.

Also there a couple of debts I have that I've been able to put £500 a month aside for, and when I have enough to cover the full amount I am going to contact them to pay it off in full. I have not been chased for these, just going from what's in my credit reports, and as I can pay them off within two to three months I was just wondering if this is a good idea, or to contact them now and offer a payment plan. Again, I have not been contacted or approached by them. Unfortunately these are relatively recent, maximum four years ago so will not be statute barred.

A possiblility: to obtain the relevant account details, you could WRITE to Virgin Media a Request for Information (Data Protection Act) ~ similar to the letter for old bank account statements.
    See template in: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges#templates

Provide all addresses that you resided at whilst with VM and all versions of your name that you used, they should be able to identify you and issue you all statments of account - thus you get the account number.

You could then "attack" this default.

    Good luck,
    John
