please help.

I have a joint mortgage wıth an ex-partner. He moved out of the property 3 years ago andhas not paıd a penny towards ıt sınce. I am now ın a posıtıon where ı can not afford the mortgage and he refuses to help ın anyway.I have lıttle to now money and am very scared andconfused. What can I do?

    If the mortgage is in both names, you are both liable.
    Wondering what has happened now that you can't afford the mortgage. If it's unemployment, do you have mortgage payment protection insurance that might help with payments? You might also be eligible for state benefits.
    Generally, contact your lender as soon as possible to explain the situation.
    If it is a short term situation that means you are unable to pay and you have kept up with payments until now, you may be able to negotiate reduced payments with your lender. Make sure you know what you can afford first.
    A local advice agency (look for one that is free and independent) like Citizens Advice will be able to give far more detailed advice or you could ring National Debtline. There are organisations out there who can help, so please don't feel you are alone.
