Wedding Website- views?

Options
I was contemplating setting up a wedding website with a few details on the day and keep it updated.

Has anyone else got one, or had one? I'm wondering if it was worth it, did it really make communicating to your guests easier? And which site did you use if you did have one?

Any views or opinions are welcome!

    Hi,

We have a wedding website with www.gettingmarried.co.uk it's free. They do have a version you can pay for but the free one is just fine. I love my website, it has so much info on there but as we are marrying abroad it's easy to fill & has been really useful to guests who are coming to get the info they needed. It's good fun doing it though, I still did formal invites with rspv though didn't ask anyone to do it through the web.
Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

We have a website too, hosted by mr site - not specifically wedding-y, but we've made it wedding-y! There was a small charge to purchase the url, but that's it.

I think it is useful if you don't want to send invites with loads of bits of paper; just put the website address and tell people to go there! Plus you can update it if things change, or you get more information. Bear in mind though that some guests might not be entirely au fait with computers, so be prepared to send paper versions of information to a few guests too.

We're hoping to add a photo gallery after the wedding and get guests to send us their photos to upload so they're all in one place.

We have a honeyfund website - www.honeyfund.co.uk which acts as a honeymoon gift list and a wedding info website. It is also free, but has a premium one that you can pay for if you want to make it a bit more fancy. On it we have our honeymoon gift registry, times of the ceremony and the reception, link to the venue and link to the location and a message to our guests. It was really handy because it produces a pdf of cards that you can print out to pop in with your invitations with our own url. It records who has given a gift and they can write a message to you and you can also use it to record when you received the money (honeyfund don't handle any transactions - you can specify if you want a cheque, give your bank details or use Paypal) and when you have sent a thank you. I love it! :)

I'd second https://www.gettingmarried.co.uk , it's really good. I will be putting all information - including RSVP! - on there, and the invitation will literally have no bits of paper with it except a small business card (free from Vistaprint of course...) telling them to go to the website for more info and to RSVP.

Well, that's the plan anyway, it may change when other people in my family get a hold of it and decide it's stupid or they don't like it or whatever, because it seems at the moment my opinion is the last one to matter.

*oops, slightly bitter rant there! :( *

I've done gettingmarried.com too. Done total background pages on how we met, his version of the proposal then mine. We've set up a 'meet the VIPs' page and included info on the BM, MOH etc, got pages for the marriage and the evening do, info of what will be happening and where and everyone RSVPs on there too. As i'm not having invites etc it's going to be my bible.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I can also recommend gettingmarried.co.uk ....it has saved us a ton on getting invites printed (we just did little cards with the link and password), they can RSVP online, it has a blog that I keep people updated on, maps and hotel recommendations, and they can come back afterwards and put their photos on it...all for free unless you want the premium package. Can't recommend enough.

Thanks all for the info on gettingmarried! I couldn't work out what to do about invites but this makes life a little easier actually. I am going to go with my original plan of getting 50 free oversized postcards from Vistaprint with blank backs so I can just print some text on nice paper and embellish it, that way I can just add the website and people can do RSVPs etc there

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

I agree with gettingmarried! I am using it through a recommendation on here.

Really easy to use and customise and like another said saved on sending lots of paper which can be easily lost.

It is also useful for people checking any last minute info on times etc on the day. I am hoping it'll reduce the number of calls/texts me, my OH and bridal party get!
