Reclaim postage costs for special/recorded
Pound
I sent a couple of mobile cashback claims by special delivery. They got delivered but no signature was obtained, for £4.10 each I was quite annoyed so I sent in a claim and got a cheque for £8.20 a couple of weeks later.
I had to return a parcel recently, had to use special delivery and again no signature is available although delivered. I've checked a few recorded delivery slips I have in a draw and they all show delivered but no signature.
I might send them all in and ask for my money back. Might be worth other people going through their slips, especially if deliveries are to businesses.

Be interesting to hear what happens as if a recorded delivery item is lost you can claim for the cost of the item the've lost, but not the cost of the wasted postage you've paid. I've always thought this very unfair. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

I would have thought that made sense, if you make an insurance claim you dont get back the premium on top of the loss. The postage cost represents the premium, its not like the post office actually have an insurance policy for lost items, they merely suffer the cost as a factor of running the business
Though saying that the amount of trouble I have I am sure I am due a decades free postage.0 -
Don't follow this logic - insurance should put you back in the position you were in before the loss.
So, if you have to buy a replacement item to send, you also have to pay the postage again. Therefore it is unfair not to refund the postage too.0 -
David13 - as petmidget says, the postage is the premium, so you wouldn't get it back anyway!
Edit to say that insurance should put you back in the position you were before the loss, not the position you were in before you paid the premium!0
