Absolutely, but the number of times lenders !!!! up you wouldn't believe.

    Where are the statistics ?

In the main people don't understand the seriousness of a default. That's the root cause.

I don't think they publish those statistics. Just like the US Government doesn't publish the statistics of how many civilians they kill each year.

Most people do understand the seriousness of a default. But if you have something negative registered against you for a property you no longer live at (say a utility bill), or for something that has been disputed and not resolved or if you had been paying a commitment for a number years at a level just below what the lender was expecting but not low enough for them to count it as a missed payment without them telling you then I think it's perfectly acceptable to feel aggrieved and have it removed.

So its view based on the type of client that applies for a mortgage then.

Waffling about a totally unrelated subject suggests there is no substantive evidence.

Hard to see any justification at all to have the default removed before 6 years has elapsed. As the OP admits to forgetting about the debt.

I wish people wouldn't be so obsessed with their published credit score. As its not the same rating as lenders use in determining whether to lend or not from the same data.

The default was complicated but it only took a day of nagging the creditor to get it removed - it was a mistake on the part of the creditor (all payments were made on time but it was handed to a 3rd party recovery agent...)

The problem you will have now is that Abbey will not re-search for 60 days after the first search, so even if the default is cleared from your record, Abbey could still be using the previous search which shows the default.
