Your old p45 is totally out of date and not of any use at all.

Have you been working or claiming benefits in this tax year, if employed from your old employer or from the job centre if you have been claiming JSA

If so you should have a new P45 with this years earnings on it

If you dont have a current one, fill in a P46 and give it to your new employer. These can be downloaded and filled in.

File your old P45s away and forget about them.

When youre all sorted your tax code for this year will be 810L

your post is a little unclear

2009 could mean either tax year 2008-9 or 2009-10

'last year' could mean tax year 2010-11 or 2011-12

it's very unusual to get a 'new' P45 ; do you really mean P45 or do you mean a new notice of taxcode?

but anyway as already said; if you haven't worked or claimed JSA since 6th April 2012 then you need to fill in a P46

your tax code now (taxyear 2012-13) should be 810L

If you look on the HMRC website, I believe you can get one there or your employer can dowload one on your first day.

If you are only on a 3 month temp contract you are actually unlikely to pay any tax because you have unused allowances from April this year.

If you do pay some tax for the first couple of weeks you will probably get it back within your paypacket in a couple weeks or so.
