Leaving debt in UK as moving to Rep of Ireland

Oh where to start!

I am hoping that you might be able to offer some advice. I have completed the CCCS form who recommend that I offer to pay my creditors a min payment as unable to meet my monthly debt.

My debts are in the uk, one unsecured bank loan and two credit card debts in total amounting to roughly £30000. I am now living in the Irish republic and would like to consider the possibility of bankrupting myself. I have been here for nearly a year and have been able to meet my monthly payments in the UK from the small savings I had, these have now gone and my incoming money does not cover all my outgoings by any means...

My marriage broke down so I moved to be with family but am subsequently going to say here. I have left my well paid employment in London and have a small job, on min wage which after the exchange and living costs doesn't cover my debt.

Are you able to advise how I can move forward on this. It is difficult as I'm not living in London but I need help on this and I need to get things moving. I'm finding it very difficult coping with the thought of this debt that I'm not able pay.

How would I move forward with this?

Thank you very much for any help and apologies if already covered in forum. :(

  • Hi I did post reply on your other thread....if you go bankrupt in Ireland it will take 12 yrs to discharge.....in the UK its 12 Months as far as im aware.
  • Also have you contacted your creditors to explain this situation.
Dont feel so alone my debt is considerably larger than yours and there are literally thousands in our position. You have to take things a day at a time.
