Free slabs or Driveway - Where can i get em?

I need a new drive!

Does anyone have any ideas where i can get one free?

I was thinking maybe the council gives away their old slabs or are there companies offering a free drive in return to them to use it as a 'showdrive'

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated

You could try you local freecycle site. I have got patio slabs off there and lots of other useful free stuff.

This is an interesting thread because I am looking for something similar. There must be companies out there who do this or at least offer discounted prices for the publicity it generates etc.

some councils sell of any surplus stuff eg slabs etc some may be slightly damaged try contacting them to see

also freecycle is worth a try I've had some of their but you need to register
good place to offload stuff too

Check the local paper. There are often people giving stuff away free to collectors. I got a free greenhouse a few years ago.

God driving through Stevenage yesterday and they were pulling up a pavement (long one) there were piles everywhere, I would defo contact your local council.

Local council yard is worth a try , or if you know someone who works for the council ask them they might know

try the freecycle site you get allsorts of stuff people dont need have alook at the site and put up a post usually you just have to arrange collection with the person who is offering the item. good luck

ive just asked my oh who is a civil engineer with bolton council and he said that councils cant give out paving slabs anymore coz of the risk of litigation if people hurt themselves on them!
