Yep I have just ordered 10 litres of soya milk and 24 vanilla soya puddings from approved food. Tesco free from stuff is good. I really like Alpro yogurts and Alpro chocolate desserts. You used to be able to get a nice free from ice cream from asda don't have one near me now, the strawberry and chocolate are really nice but not keen on the vanilla. My nicest thing I've ever had is flapjack from sainsburys that was made with coconut

Ive just ordered 72 soya deserts for OH and 6 soya custards:eek::eek::eek:...also got 4 jars of Ragu and loads of other stuff for £21 inc delivery.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone, I really appreciate it. I do cook my meals from scratch, but I can't bake to save my life :) so I thought I'd ask. Having gone to sainsbury's yesterday, some of their free from foods were actually more expensive than waitrose

I really don't like soya/rice milk, but I buy lacto free cow's milk. Goat's milk still has lactose in it, so that's a no-go. I do like the flavoured soya yoghurts though, and go through them at a rate of knots :D

I'll have a look at approved foods, and will check out some other supermarkets as well. Thanks again for your help.

I buy Lactofree too because it's lower carb. :)

I wish supermarkets would stop adding chemicals and water to food eg Tesco pork loin steaks 660g 3 for £10 offer recently - the steaks had 11% added water and contained sodium acetate and dried glucose syrup.
ASDA was doing the same offer - but without the additives, so they weren't necessary.

I'm convinced if more of our food was free from additives there wouldn't be so many people with food allergies and intolerances.

Hi, my Dad is following a gluten free diet but doesn't like the taste of any of the breads, biscuits etc.We are now looking for goods that are free from gluten but not part of these very expensive freeform ranges. Both Tescos and Sainsburys have a product list which i found on the internet, you can then look at the products online to see their contents. So far we have found Beefburgers(Tesco,Morrisons) and also most of the Coop's sausages are gluten free.Good luck

OH has a day off tomorrow and he wants to go to a bigger town and look at breadmakers. Looking at the Lakeland website https://www.lakeland.co.uk I noticed several gluten free bread mixes.

I have a Morphy Richards Fastbake breadmaker which I use for gluten free bread.
If you decide to go this route I would suggest getting "Gluten-free bread and cakes from your Breadmaker' by Carolyn Humphries.
I already had the MR Fastbake, but it is one of the breadmakers that she has tested the recipes in. I've used several of the recipes in the book to make both regular and fruited bread.

I haven't looked at Lakeland recently, but the GF mixes that they used to have aren't suitable for a breadmaker - sorry don't have time to check it out now.

The meatballs and the Angus quarter pounder beef burgers both in the fresh meat cabinet in Lidl I noticed today are gluten free.
I have to check beef burgers carefully as they often have wheat flour in them. I was v pleased with the meatballs. I add a jar of Bertolli bolognaise sauce which I usually pay £1.98 for in Asda but found it in Home Bargains today for 99p! Well chuffed. You'd need gluten free spaghetti which is pricey but you could use rice instead which is naturally gluten free. My born and bred Italian friend recommends Bertoli as the best pasta sauce for being closest to natural and tastiest but it's pricier than Dolmio but not now I've found it in Home Bargains! Also my mums makes GF bread from a juvela mix which she loves - very little skill needed as its a mix so don't be put off making bread. She mixes it with water, leaves it to prove for 15 mins I think then pops it in the oven in one of those silicone floppy cases & it always comes out fine & the 3 of them find it tasty bread so I'd recommend have a go.

That's the one I use for cakes and general baking and I tend to add a bit of xanthum gum which makes it rise a little.

Can I please just urge people diagnosed as coeliac to avoid spelt, it is often stated that this is a safe flour or such nonsense it is not. t has gluten and is not suitable for anyone with coeliac or a true gluten or wheat intolerance. I've even had a health food shop employee assure me it s safe as it is an old form of wheat.
