Debt/Credit File Advice

Willgetthere - completely ignore the letters pertaining to the overdrafts, especially as they are not showing in your file. If you acknowledge the debt you could start the six year limitation running again. Not every creditors report to agencies. Over the last two years, banks have started report more current account information but prior to this, they mostly would only report loan information.
The letter from the CC company sounds like an assignment of debt hat would have gone along with the debt sale agreement. Sometimes these letters are not in a proper letterhead as they are just copies. I would bet my life on the fact that it would be real. If by some small chance that it is not real, this would be considered a misrepresentation and not a fraud. These debt are usually sold in for pennies in the pound, especially when they are statute barred.
Every time you request a copy of your own credit file from any agency, there will be a record of it. However, this is a 'soft' or unrecorded enquiry, so only you and the agencies can see these - get as many as you like.
Sounds like you don't really have that much to worry about in your report really - bit of time and effort and it's fixable.0 -
Thanks Erimus1. You've been really helpful!!!
All the best

With the credit files, I personally pay a monthly subscription, although some people do not believe it is worth it. Creditexpert charge £14.99 for their service after the trial period but like SKY, if you ring up and say you want to quit, you can argue your case and get it down - I pay £6.99.
Also, Callcredit's Noddle service is completely free for life, although it is only updated once a month and not live like Creditexpert.
Hope this helps
Hi Erimus,
I registered with CreditExpert no problem (though witing for the PIN for 5 days is a bit annoying!) but noodle has blocked me twice??? You dont happen to have a number I can call to speak to someone do you? Also, I put in all my personal information on the application page which they should have anyway. If they dont have it, will they now add it to their records, even though they haven't processed my membership?
Many Thanks
