I have recently started a new job. I am into my 3rd week. 1st week's wages was OT tax code, 2nd week I got a tax code 810L and recieved a tax rebate. 3rd week I have a tax code 500tx tax code. Before the start of this job I was in receipt of benefits and did not give in a P45. Can anyone enlighten me as to what 500 tx code, it looks like it is a form of emergency tax but I am not sure what is going on!:(

T - If there are any other items we need to review in your tax code, for example the income-related reduction to the Personal Allowance (read more in the section 'Effect on your tax code if your income is above £100,000').
Tax code '0T' means your allowances have been used up or reduced to nil and your income is taxed at the relevant tax rates.
