Tax on new job

Hi Guys
My OH started a new job today. He's been unemployed since 2010 and only been claiming the last 6 or so months.
When he gave his employer his account details, he asked if they needed his P45 from 2010. They said it was not needed.
I am just a little concerned that he will get emergency tax on his wages because they not taken the p45
Anyone got any advice to what will happen?

He will have a P45 from now as in when he signed off so he gives them that.0 -
he should get a P45 from the job centre, if he has been signing on , the p45 needs to be the current tax year.
If not, it will work out fairly quickly once they confirm things with tax office0 -
Alternatively they may ask him to complete a P46 in lieu of P45, gets to the same outcome of identifying the tax code.0

This is a new tax year so the only p45 he needs is this year which is from the JC.0

Well his P45 turned up today after he sent off his P46 yesterday!
He's due to be on the last working day of the month and the payroll cut date was the 15th. Do you think he'll still have to pay emergency tax for June's salary?0 -

If he pays tax in June, he will get back any overpayment in July or maybe not pay tax at all.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Also, tell him to ring the tax office and ask if he is due any tax back for last year and the year before.

Likely he will be taxed at B.R. Takes maybe six weeks to get on correct tax though he will get the overpayment back.0
