Credit Agreement without an agreement number

Hi,

My partner has a fixed sum loan agreement which at the time he signed the pre-contract agreement at the time of purchasing a conservatory. A few days later a carbon copy and accompanying letter was received which said please find enclosed a copy of your finance agreement signed for and on behalf of "xxxxx Finance".

However, the carbon copy and the accompanying letter do not have agreement numbers on..so I wondered where would the finance company stand with regards to enforcing this loan. Is it a requirement of the 1974 Consumer Credit Act?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

  • You won't have to pay it and will in fact be entitled to a huge amount of compensation.

Or maybe you will have to pay the money you agreed to pay.

I don't have a problem with having to pay money I agreed to pay, except when a financial institution fails to comply with a requirement on their part, as If it was the customer who had failed they would be quick enough to slap a charge or fine on the account.

Serious advice please people, not sarcasm.

    Your agreement number is 712-KK-81902

They could just re-constitute an agreement with a reference number I believe, after all thats all it is a means of reference.

Thanks guys, appreciate the clarity around the 1974 CCA.
    Pay your debts.

I/we are and always have done.
  • With respect, your question was geared towards asking if you could get out of paying back a company which had kindly lent you its own money.
