Credit card default question

Hi,
A question for any default experts out there.

I have a Halifax cc which I had/have difficulty paying from 2006 onwards. It got passed to their internal DCA (BOS) and since 2006 there has been a temporary installement plan in place (6 years is quite long for a temporary I know). Every 8 months or so I send them a SOA at their request and they agree an extension, no problem there, no letters, calls or hassle.

However I have checked my credit file and it shows 'arrangement to pay' until late 2008, then it shows late payment until April 2009 when it shows 'default' ( I cant remember when it defaulted) and every month since it shows 'default'.

My question is if I have made an arrangement to pay should they show that on my file and not a default every month?
(OK I guess technically I am, but migh look better with AP on file)

In th end does it really matter as rating is low anyway?

I had another arrangement with anther 2 cc's (now paid off-phew) and they always had 'arrangement to pay'

Any comments or thoughts greatfully received

I defaulted on a credit card in 2008 I think, and although I arranged a payment with the company they sold the debt to and paid a hefty amount every month until it was paid off in 2009, Noddle shows 'default' for every month until the account was finally settled. I'm not sure what my other credit reports showed as it's been a while since I looked at them...

I'm afraid all I know is that once a default is recorded it takes 6 years to drop off your credit file so I wouldn't worry. What was the date of default? If it was 2006 it would it not drop off this year?

It defaulted in 2009 apparently. I'm not really bothered, I dont really want credit anymore. It just seems like you end up paying a whole lot more, when really if you just save you pay the price you see. It take a lot to earn it, them some big bank takes a whole lot off you in interest

^^^^ may be useful in working out whether any default was fair in 2009, or if perhaps it should have been applied/dated sooner.
