Keep an eye out tonight at the supermarket...

I've been told that Sainsburys in particular over ordered for the jubilee and therefore had loads of waste/reduced items.

Keep your eye out in your local supermarket as there should be some good reductions- this may just apply to yorkshire I'm not sure but check anyway :)

I'm in Wiltshire and my local Sainsbo's had an awful lot of reduced veg - there were two trollies full of just new potatoes ... Bargains to be had if you fancy living off potato salad for the next few weeks.

As you know, I work for them and I helped out on produce putting the yellow labels on many things as one of the code checkers is off sick, a team leader is on holiday and the other TL doesn't start until next week. If I have to put any more yellow stickers on little gem lettuces, shoot me. I must have put 3 lots of reduced labels on 115 of the blessed things.

Head office are to blame and are fully aware so we don't get a right telling off from them when wastage figures are high.

Also applied to prepacked cobs and bread as well - not the bakery ones. On Monday, we had c.65 of the Warbies 12 white cobs at 25p each. Bought 2 packs for my parents and loads of bread. Yesterday, there were about 40 loaves of Hovis Best of Both thick slice for 19p. No room in the freezer though.

Our local Tesco was stacked to the rafters with cheap fruit and veg last night. Strawberries at 10p a punnet, that sort of thing. I spent an hour this morning turning them into freezer jam.

I've looked at the dates for the other Jubilee food too and they all date expire today. I'll go down this evening...they must have a good hundred of these chocolate roulades to clear and a couple of them would be good for the freezer, plus any other deli stuff they've got.

What other Jubilee food does Tesco stock? Had a look round mine yesterday but couldn't see any special Jubilee designs...
    Thanks!

The same thing will happen with Olympic and Euro 2012 merchandise. Hold fire and buy afterwards if you want a souvenir.

Some of the jubilee specific merchnadise would be reduced but there would be the non specific stuff that could be used for euro 2012 and olympics eg the union jack bunting, the mini flags you can get.
