HELP!! Northern Rock keep moving the goalposts

Hello,
I desparately need some advice please.
We hold a mortgage with Northern Rock. My husband is currently off sick and we need to put a short term plan in place for our mortgage to pay interest only.
Every time we speak to them on the phone, they change the goalposts and/or dismiss what the previous call centre agent said we could do.
Does anyone else have any experience of Northern Rock or tips that they could offer.....we are getting to the end of our tether with them and we are not making any progress at all.
