Help with Lloyds/Apex

Hi,
Apex have written regarding an alleged debt to Lloyds for a credit card.
I have categorically NEVER had any banking with Lloyds TSB so I know this debt is not mine.
I have done the CCA request and Apex have written a lengthy missive which I am happy to quote but the opening gambit is that they say Lloyds cannot trace the CCA as it is 'too old'.
Apex are requesting an offer of repayment for this debt that isn't mine.
Any suggestions as to what to do next?
Thanks in hope.

Tell them you have never had a Lloyds account, card or anything else.
Sending a CCA request was probably the wrong thing to do, as only a genuine account holder has the right to do one of those. So Apex are probably now thinking that the account is yours, but you are simply trying to avoid it.
Really you should have disputed you owe anything outright.
As per the sort of letter in this link.

Ah, I see. Thought it was the right thing to do to see what was going on (i.e. someone with same/similar name). Oh well, done now. I will send the above letter as the next step.
Have truly never banked with Lloyds so rather annoying.0 -
Write them a pointed letter stating categorically that you have never banked with LLoyds and therefore the debt isn't yours. Counter threaten them with OFT of they don't leave you alone. In short, a bog standard 'jog on' letter will be just fine. It's up to them to prove the debt, not you to prove you don't owe it.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

No, it's not there.
I think it is a mistake. Just now need to make sure it goes no further.0 -

Exactly.
You need to be very clear that the you never ever ever owed Lloyds a thing, and that Apex can take a long walk off a short pier as far as you are concerned. :cool:Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Because I've had a s***t day...
Dear Lying Scumbags (change as appropriate, or not...)
I refer to your recent letter dated <date> which states that you believe I owe your employer, LLoyds TSB a debt of <amount>.
I am not, not have I ever been a customer of LLoyds and therefore am writing to inform you that they cannot therefore be a creditor of mine. I have taken the time to advise you of this fact and trust that you will cease your attempts to recover money from me. I would like to remind you that under OFT guidelines, it is an offence to aggressively seek to recover money from a person where the debtors' liability cannot be proven and continued attempts to do so are harassment and can be reported as such.
I trust that I have made myself clear in this matter and that you will now remove all pertinent information about me from your database and cease all further communication save to acknowledge receipt of this letter.
Yours Sincerely
<you>Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
