Taking the P 1 5 5

Since Friday we have been waiting for the sellers solicitors to send over the proof of instruction from the seller and then apparently we are good to go. Exchange today and completion Friday. It has taken until now and I am still not sure what the heck is going on.

The mortgage lender instructed their own solicitors, my solicitors never seem to be able to speak to them, my adviser cannot speak to them and no one (EA and my solicitor) cannot get through to the sellers solicitor to get this fax over.

I am tearing my hair out here, who the bloomin heck knows what's going on? I am not allowed to contact the mortgage co's solicitor as it is a conflict of interests and have no details for the sellers solicitors.

I wish someone would put me in the frame as surely this is a simple piece of information to get over? Or is something else fishy going on here?

That truly is taking the p1ss.... I mean, you've been waiting on solicitors since Friday and it's taken them until now, one working day later, to get back to you.

You need a little more patience.

No, we have been waiting since Friday morning for the sellers solicitor to send a fax, a simple fax. As I said I am not au fait with fax machines, but I believe it takes somewhere in the region of 30 to 90 seconds.

This is the solicitor that puffed their chest out and said that if we did not exchange last Friday they would withdraw and in the end it was them that held things up.

And you still take them seriously?

Whilst the fax may only take 30-90 seconds, the solicitor has to prepare the letter and ensure everything is in place to allow it to complete.

You do realise that this is less than one working day between Friday and today.

You are being unreasonable and stressing over nothing.

Conveyancing solicitors are normally busy on Fridays with completions.
    So no great surprise really.

Buying and selling property is stressful. Relax, you'll get there.

Anyone explained to you what this is? I've worked in the business 28 years and this means absolutely nothing to me.

Why have you ended up with a solicitor representing you and another representing the lender?

That was a mistake, IMO. If you're using HSBC, picking a solicitor from their panel would have been the best option.

It is GE but we did get there in the end today, they were so SO picky it was unbelievable. When people say this is the most stressful thing you can ever do, they are certainly right.

WOW I went a bit Diva back there.....

Honestly though this forum has helped me through this horrid process and I am going to stick around for more advice going forward and maybe to offer some words of encouragement and calm to the next person like me!

Thanks everyone again for your help!
