Strawberry jelly crystals?

Anyone got any idea where I can get some? I've had a look at Tesco and Sainsburys online, but they only seem to have cubes.

Really need some crystals for Thursday as I want to make a Neopolitan Rose Cake, and want one of the layers to be strawberry flavour.

Failing that does anyone have a recipe for a strawberry flavoured sponge which doesn't require jelly at all?

Thanks in advance lovely OSers :)

Try WW? They come in long plastic sachets, a bit like the coffee doses found in hotel bedrooms.

Cheers, will have a hunt for those in town tomorrow.

I might post a pic, but if I don't it'll be because it was a complete disaster - I've never made one before :rotfl:

You could add strawberry sodastream syrup or even strawberry squash, as your liquid. Another option would be using strawberry Instant Whip - it consists mostly of starch and sugar, so could be used as part of your basic cake recipe.

    Good luck!

Is it actually vegetarian, or just not made with pork gelatine? If it's genuinely veggie I'll get some next time I pop in, the WW is the only brand of vegetarian jelly I've come across to date. It's handy for making trifles - last time I resorted to using a ready-made jelly, which was v watery - after a couple of hours in the fridge the water had travelled up through the sponges and over the cream :(. Tasted fine, but not aethetically perfect.

You can get vegetarian jelly crystals in health food shops. The make is Just Wholefoods. No unpleasant artificial sweeteners in them either.

    Thanks everybody :)

Sadly we don't have an Asda or a Morrisons locally, all we have is a Tesco Express and a small Coop. Dh is out and about today though, so I might send him on a jelly hunt :rotfl: And I will have a look in the Health Food shop in town too.

I'm liking the Strawberry Squash idea too, so might brave giving that a go if I can't find any.

    Thanks again,
