Anyoneone know how to make "Granny Loaf"?

My grandmother used to make the most wonderful tealoaf-type cake which had nuts and dried fruit in it (but never cherries) and possibly spices. It definitely had no tea in it. You ate it cold with butter.
The recipe would have probably been from before the second world war...... and she was from the North East. Does anyone know how to make this or have a recipe for it?

I've already had a [strike]couple of[/strike] piece :A I added in a light spicing of cinnamon and ginger and sprinkled the top with a little spoonful of sugar - I love the way it crusts up. Definitely one to bookmark0 -

Has anyone else tried this please? I know that Be-Ro has been tried and tested over years but I've just tried it and found it really difficult to mix after adding 2 splashes of milk (!) It was difficult to 'dollop' into the tin (wouldn't pour) now I'm waiting with trepidation for it to come out of the oven (looks most uneven although I tried to smooth it before placing in oven...What did I do wrong? ....help! I measured everything...The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

That was quick, sorry yes, I meant that I added another 2 splashes of milk after the 1/4 pt, didn't dare add anymore. It's out now and cooling, doesn't look too good but smells nice, so mightn't be a complete disasterThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

No it's definitely a disaster. I did put it into a 1lb loaf tin instead of the 6inch tin that was suggested but I think that it was too late by then anyway...
Don't think that I can even inflict it on the birds...:oThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
