Lucy,
Take a look at autotrader.co.uk and do a search on 'car supermarket' on google.
The advantage of HP or PCP is your ability to walk away from the loan halfway through. However it may also sting you with nasty penalties and gererally be more expensive than a personal loan.
If you are buying used (which you are) don't do excessive mileage (<15,000 a year) then a personal loan will be cheaper.
Because their is a new look clio just out, used prices on the slightly older version are already depressed so you should get a good deal.
Make sure you take the loan out over 3 years max to ensure that their is not loads of finance outstanding when the car is wearing out and needing larger repair bills potentially when it is 5+ years old.
Why not get a personal loan quote and go armed with this when you go car shopping. You will then know whether the discount and car finance deal you are being offered is costing you much more than a personal loan and whether the extra is worth the benefit of being able to hand the car back half way through your finance deal.

Possibly a useless reply which adds nothing to the debate but....
Does it have to be that car and that plate when it will be putting you in debt?
