good evening all
Intro:
last week i received a letter through the door from a company called clarity credit management requesting that i called them straight away. so i did, and they said i owed a company called creation consumer finance (CCF) £1300.
History:
January 2011 i moved into a new house i bought some new sofas from DFS. I paid half at the shop and i was planning to pay off the other half in a few months as i had an interest free tesco credit card (collect clubcard points for all my new house stuff).
A direct debit appeared on my bank statement for consumer credit finance so i googled it to discover it was the finance company that dfs use - no problem.
on the 4th July 2011 i called CCF and requested the settlement figure - they have evidence of this, (£1000) i then paid it off via my tesco card (i called tesco and they have verified the payment details and transaction).
I never thought anything more about it. This letter obviously caught me out completely. So after hours of phone calls i finally got to the bottom of it.
CCF recieved my payment but they didnt have any reference number and had two identical payments made on that day so it just sat there in a "holding account". They tried to chase me up in January 2012 but they were sending letters to my old address. I had no reason to update them since i believed that i had paid it off in July. They had admitted that they had the payment (july 4th) they just didnt assign it to my account. They now need to contact the debt collection agency to request "my debt" back so they can action it. (8th June 2012)
I checked my credit score yesterday and i have 4 missed payments and a default against my account now!
very very hacked off about the situation. What are my options?
can this be removed from my account? having a default and 4 missed payments has completely ruined my credit history (999 > 420).
hope you lot can help!

Your credit history should be repaired as this appears to be a straightforward mix up by CCF.
Have you called them up & asked them to correct your credit record?0 -
Will be an easy to solve problem, call them and they will fixDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
