Newbie, my experience of comping so far...

Hi, I have just joined MSE although I have visited this site on and off for a few years now, please forgive any mistakes I make, I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to technology! I have decided to take comping a little more seriously this year and wanted to share my experiences so far...
The last few months I've been entering 30 a day (I know a lot of people enter a lot more but it takes me ages, so 30 is enough for now!) had a couple of small wins, some nice:

Meal for two at O'Neil's (we love the food there anyway, so was really happy with this!)

Balance Me runner up prizes ( although I had convinced myself they would be full sized bottles but they were just little samples, but they still smell really nice & make my skin feel lovely!)

Lipcote from the Glamour giveaways

Some disappointing: Danepac fridge magnet, Daisy Green Winter magazine (was looking forward to this but was more of a leaflet).

I also had a WEM a couple of weeks ago saying I have won a runner up prize of a Tim Burton box set which is yet to arrive & I am a tad confused as I looked on the site & it says the runner up prize is a just a goodie bag, not the DVDs. I hope it is the DVDs as thats what I really wanted!

Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love coming on here and reading everyones experiences. I'm grateful for the wins I've had, I'm not convinced yet that the small prizes you get measure up to amount of effort that you put in but I'm trying not to take it too seriously & just see what happens. From what I have read a lot of people who put in a lot of effort don't win anything.

Good luck to everyone, I hope we all have some big wins coming our way! (sorry, I wrote a lot more than intended! Getting carried away!) :)

Welcome Madrabbitgirl. Yes, there's no denying that there's a whole lot of effort involved for sometimes very little gain, but you've got to love the thrill of entering (which I do!). For me it's a hobby and a distraction from everyday life, but I must admit I do very well indeed.

    Good luck to you!

    ;)
Huge respect to all those who take the time to post competitions. You're all great! :T
  • Hi, Im also new to this. Ive been entering about 15-20 a day, but only entering those prizes I actually want or can do. So holidays (as I have 3 children) and events are usually out for me. All Ive won so far is 1 itunes song credit, but that was the 4th prize which 3000 people won. Since 29th April I have entered nearly 400 legit comps and another 154 comps that Im not sure about as they are from these sites such as give me a ticket, offer x and a couple of others. I get the impression from here they are to be avoided?

At the moment, Im wondering if the effort is worth it, but I keep looking at what others have won and think that I must get something in the end, but I am not so sure today.

    Good luck with your comps.
Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:

Don't give up Zombieslayer25! I'm sure there will be some good luck on it's way to you soon!

I forgot to mention before that I also won £10 with Boost energy drinks in May (by putting a promotional code on their site) but they wanted bank details which I didn't want to hand out, so I e-mailed them asking if they could send a cheque instead (not expecting they would) and they agreed! so hopefully that'll be on it's way soon!:j

Sounds like a good start Madrabbitgirl! Keep going and hopefully you`ll keep winning. Funnily enough I entered the Danepak competition thinking I might win a fridge magnet, but ended up winning a nightshirt that was big enough for the whole household to get into!
