Wonga repayments

Hi All,
I'm actually on her for a friend, sounds like I'm at the doctor's I know but they don't have access to the internet and I don't know what to suggest as I'm not prepared to foot the bill again!
They are in debt with Wonga and the Wonga company are putting a charge of £25 everytime they try and take money out that isn't there so the debt keeps getting bigger.
He had agreed a payment plan and then didn't stick to it. He's spoken with them but as the plan has been agreed they won't do anything.
I think it's around £500 now but getting bigger all the time. He's not eligible for credit cards or loans due to his very bad credit rating. Is there anything he could do????
