Why not ring HMRC, they will tell yu straight away whether there is any tax due back.
Do you have receipts from the business, petrol expenses etc.
Did you keep all your records.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
why exactly do you mean 'tax back'?
which tax year are you referring to?
why do you think you are due a refund?0 -

If you haven't already done so, you should register your self-employment with HMRC ASAP. I think you can do that online, but I could be wrong.
There's general advice on self-employment on the hmrc website. You can access it from the 'individuals & employees' box on their homepage.
I can't help with expenses etc but as for the mechanics, you'll need to complete annual Tax Returns while you remain self-employed.0 -

I am totally new in to it and need some information of what can be reclaimed, what is the process and what documents required.
when did you start to be self employed?
what sort of work do you do?
what approximately was your income?0 -
A I am a subcontractor I am already getting paid Net. However as I did not work the full 2011-2012 Tax year I think there is quite a bit of tax that I have overpaid plus I had loads of business expenses so I need to find out how to claim those back.0

I think you need to tell the HMRC about self employment within a month? Can anyone tell me if that is right? No debts. No credit cards. No store cards. No mortgage. No CCJs. High credit rating intact. Living frugally. Want to start business soon. Trying to keep head above water; while standing on own feet; staying within the law; and not falling into debt. Looking to raise income, who isn't?0
