'02 Micra s- leak in passenger footwell.
I just bought a 2002 Micra s last week and drove it from Belfast to Luton with no problem apart from stiff gears.
However, since I got back, it has been pouring and there is water dripping in to the passenger footwell. I did open the bonnet and found leaves and debris which I cleared and this morning there was maybe 1/4 cupful water on the rubber mat. Seems to be coming in less than it was yesterday.
Dh not happy at all! I think it is a new problem as there was no damp smell in the car when I got it, and no water staining.
He is convinced it is a massive job to fix, I want to have a go myself if it is easy enough. I do know that the heater matrix was recently replaced, so could it be that there is a leak from there?
Can anyone give me the dummies' guide on what to do please? Step-by-step? Or a link to similar.

does the car have a sunroof? if so open the roof, and look in all corners of the frame the sunroof sits in, there are normally little tube is some or all of the corners, theses tube connect to pipes that run down the windscreen support pillars and down the rear qtr panels, when these block up with leafs debris etc, the rain water backs up and leaks into the car.
you can test this by opening the roof, and pouring water in the frame slowly and watching if it runs away, if it dosnt then get a lenght of something like curtain wire and push it down the tube removing the blockage/s
if you dont have a sunroof let me know and we can go onto the next step

Someone at work has a 2002 Micra and they were telling me about a similar sounding leaking problem they'd had. I think it turned out to be coming through an opening where some cables feed through into the engine bay. Something like that anyway. I'll ask about it when I get back to work unless someone else here comes up with more detailed advice.0

could be anything including sill holes blocked causing water to poor into cabin
obviously obvious first place has to be heater matrix though ,maybe a gasket wasnt fitted and this is allowing water seepage from scuttle
ideally remove front seat lay on your back and get someone to hosepipe the car0 -
It doesn't have a sunroof so we can rule that out. Was on the Micra forum and they talk about removing the wipers and scuttle boards, or something. I think it is likely to be coming from where the heating matrix was fitted. Seems logical. If so, would it be an easy job to do? Could I do it myself?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. Btw, I can see where the drip is coming in. Literally right underneath the glove box.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Hi,
Forget what I said earlier.
I think this forum thread basically covers the problem my workmate had:
