Unpaid Direct Debit fee

I have a mortgage with Mortgage Express. During a financial crisis (mine that is) in 2005 I missed a few payments. Each time I was charged an Unpaid Direct Debit fee of £35 and an Arrears Administration fee of £30. I appreciate that there has to be a penalty, but is this excessive? Any point me asking for a refund? The charges were put onto the outstanding mortgage so there was more interest to pay. I did realise that the charges could be paid off separately which I did, and I was able to pay the missing instalments within a few months. The bank The Woolwich also charged me £30 for each unpaid Direct Debit - hoping to get some of that back soon.

We would not agree and neither would our Credit Control team to refund them over the phone, its best to go straight to Customer Relations as they are the only part of MX that have the power to refund the Fee's
In all honesty unless its our fault (MX) then we will not give you a refund.
The address for Customer Relations now goes to the Bingley Office
