Method to your online grocery shop?

How do you decide whom to order your online groceries from??
What products do you avoid when online ordering?
Where do you look for discount codes etc. (not first order)
Do you say you will accept substitutions?
Slots permitting, I weigh up codes v slot delivery price v any offers like catfood.
I have found ordering instore type baked bread not a good idea as the bread was dated the same day with one retailer or tasteless with another. (ok with usual sliced bread)
I find it hard to find e-codes. (only ones recently around were the Tesco stackables, Ocado o2 moments) I do get occasional Ocado email codes and odd Tesco clubcard e-voucher/instore.
I usually opt out of substitutions where there is that option. I've been lucky to get 100% orders in all but one of mine.

I always order when it's the cheapest delivery. I always look for codes, sometimes it is off food which helps with delivery (I don't spend )more than £25 so some don't apply to me)
I also look at the special offers, and stock up if necessary. Always take substitutions, you can always send them back if you don't want them. On the Tesco site there is a facility to write to your picker, so if you want small or green bananas say, you can ask for them. Our pickers are very good and give us long shelf life stuff, so ask for it.
Hope this helps!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
Waitrose because better quality and free delivery anytime
MyWaitrose to get offers
Shop special offers first but only on things I would buy normally
Limited amounts processed stuff for OH as he likes Jaffa cakes, Weetabix
No substitutions0 -
Do you use your previous favourites or start a new shop?
Do you browse around for bargains or stick to a list?
I normally order via a mental list (fruit/veg/salad/meat/tins/beverages/bakery/dairy etc.) and try to spot bargains, but sometimes look out for bargains in cereals/pets/toiletries/household etc.0 -

If anyone uses Mr T every week, or more often, they have just announced a prepayment scheme for deliver charge. £36 for 3 months or £60 for 6 months, then you can order as often as you want, as long as you spend £40 a time.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

So then they have your guaranteed business whatever they do with the prices?? I'll be giving that one a miss!
OP, I always shop with Tesco. I start by going through the BOGOFs and half price items then build the rest of my meals around those items.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

I shop probably every 2 weeks and try to use the cheapest slots. It possibly could save me money but I'd hate to be committed to shopping with them, I'd like to think I could shop elsewhere if they jacked up their prices (again!)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

How near to your delivery date do you order??
Does anybody use MySupermarket.com to order (or sometimes sad like me to check if they got the best deal?)
I like to order a couple of days before.
I am getting into this!!! Only ordered twice last year as a newbie. (Oct/Nov) This year I've ordered six times already. (twice in May & twice in June already!)

I generally use ocado, and mean to use waitrose one of these days but since waitrose is literally a stones throw away from us, in that a stone thrown from our window would hit the door to waitrose I haven't bothered as yet. Would much rather go in store and get the reduced items. Also some ranges bizarrely are sold in store but not online-such as the kosher/halal stuff even though they deliver from this store.
My ocado strategy is I have a 'base' shop which consists of the items we usually buy, I make sure that my basket on the site is always full with this base shop. Then when I come to actually do a shop I work from this, swapping out items no longer on offer for like ones that are. Also if I want an item, i.e. cereal I will get the lowest price cereal on special offer and get quite a few boxes. This time it was Mornflake chocolatey squares a mere £1 a box. Not something that is healthy to eat all year round, granted, but as a one off its not too bad. I always have at least £55 worth of offer savings at the end; on a shop that in total is no more than £130. I had a shop that was just over £100 a few weeks back and had nearly £80 of offer savings
. I also order a few days in advance so the delivery is free or £1.99 at the most, and use voucher codes whenever possible. xx 0
