I've had my Kitchenaid 3 years now. I used money left to me by my late grandmother as we spent many happy hours baking together. It was expensive but worth every penny. I too bought from Harts of Stur and got the free book and glass bowl.

After much debate about the colour I opted for the safe cream option as I reckoned it would fit in any kitchen (although I really wanted the candy apple red) and I expect it to last a lifetime.
It's been used several times a week, sometimes 4/5 times a day and I've purchased a couple of attachments in the US as they are cheaper there. The best buy was a paddle with a scraper attached and I'm planning to add to my attachments on my next US trip in September.

I had nothing against the Kenwood (my mother has had one for years) but was just drawn to the Kitchenaid as it seemed a bit more retro and classic.

QVC sometimes does a good deal on them although I think they are nearly always white rather than coloured.

Enjoy your purchase when you make it, I certainly have!:)

  • I would buy one from a trusted Retailer with great customer service, which should be Lakeland and calculate the cost of Accessories which adds £x on top.
It's the one to use if you intend to do an Professional Cookery from starting own business ie cakes etc to Professional Cheffing. I may be wrong but so far it is my preferred Food Processor if push came to shove.

  • I would consider it a Lifetime Purchase, aim to keep it in great nick and then pass onto nieces/nephews when I pop my clogs.

Ooh scottishminnie do you think the beater with scraper is worthwhile? I've been deliberating it a while but heard mixed reviews?

I have one. Prefer the original to be honest.

I love mine and never use the basic beater now. There is much less scraping the bowl required and I just find less waste. I paid something like $22 in the US for it although I think they are more expensive here.

It's very much a personal preference though- for everyone who likes it there will be someone who doesn't.

  • We've had our kitchen aid for about five years and it has been great - like others have said, it's a lifetime investment.

We got it from a Procook shop in one of these outlet villages, if I remember correctly it was around £270. Not sure if they still do them but perhaps worth investigating the outlets to see if you can find a bargain?

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank you all for your advice.

I took the plunge and bought the KitchenAid. I'd looked at the outlets recommended on here but whilst on eBay I noticed a reconditioned one (not recon but it has a few chips on the paintwork but when the bowl is in they can't be seen!). It was from Belgium but they have the same 220v plugs so I just use a travel adaptor.

I received it yesterday and I'm over the moon. In fact today I've eaten choc chip cookies, pancakes and a lemon meringue!!

It was £190 inc. postage :)
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!

Can I just ask, why should it be Lakeland, when other cookware or department stores are equally as good when it comes to customer service?

OP, I would buy a Kitchen Aid tomorrow......and the new wardrobe of clothes for DH and I that would go with it if I was baking several times a week! Enjoy your new-to-you toy! :)
