self cleaning oven

An odd question, but how do you know if your oven is a self cleaning oven?
We live in a rented house. Retired lady owns it and the house was immaculate when we first moved in. We will be moving to a bigger place in a few months I and want to get house shipshape. I wipe down the oven, and it's not really grotty though the wracks have suffered a bit from teenaged late night vegan snack concoctions. I'm wary of using something industrial on the oven in case I damage it. My granny has a self cleaning oven and says you can't use anything like that on it.

No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

I think that ordinary ovens have enamelled sides, smooth like the floor. Self cleaning have sides that are rough like an old blackboard/sandpaper.
Discovered mine were self cleaning once I had coated with ovenpride. Didn't do any harm, though. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

The racks of my oven I stick in the back in really hot water & biological washing stuff & leave overnight.,it all just slides off.
I've just felt the inside of my oven which is a self cleaner & it's a smooth finish.
Google the make & model & see if you can find a manual for it.0
