£100 for me this week. much more than usual but on hols and taking my OH out for birthday meal.

Would be interested to know how you record your (daily) spends and how you include these in your monthly budget overall?

    Hi Flat Eric

I prefer to have as few budgets as possible so I use the Weekly Spend Challenge as my kitty for nights out, non-essential buys (like bottles of coke and chocolate when I'm out and about) and general entertainment. Basically anything that's not included in another budget gets bunged in here :D

Going to an American barbecue place for dinner, very excited!! Diet starts tomorrow, right? :p

    Thanks for your reply. :j
I took the £100 out of the cashpoint yesterday. It feels more real when you actually can see the cash in the cold light of day and means I feel reluctant to spend it.

Spends yesterday amounted to £32.00 (for birthday lunch) and £3.40 (bus fare) so £64.60 left to spend/not to spend (would be the preferred option).

I'm on hols this week so could quite easily spend this and more but I want to have as much of my budget left as possible at the end of the week so feel reluctant to do anything other than chill out at home with the tv/sofa/cat especially with the weather being so poor.

There is a book that comes out on the 7th June that I would love to buy for my kindle. Its priced at £7.59 at the moment which is a lot for a book but its an author I love and will make a nice treat for my holiday. I suppose i have made up my mind that I'm buying it (instant delivery to my kindle helps) - I just can't make up my mind about whether to buy it at today's price or wait until its released and see if its any cheaper. I'm also not sure whether it should come from my weekly budget or out of my overall monthly money - does anyone allow so much per month for treats/non essential spends?

I'm also trying to decide whether any monies leftover from my weekly budget should be put towards the following week or saved in my sealed/virtual pot?

I tend to see what i have left, last week i had £18 ish i think, so i potted £3 and kept the £15 in notes for this week. I didnt see the point in potting the £15 then having to find money in my account for this week, which is also likely to put me in my OD by the end of the month. I tend to pot the coins from my weekly budget. But obviously it has to work for you.

Yes that's a good point. I'm already in my overdraft and there are still quite a few items to come out. There is no point increasing my overdraft balance just so as to save more. I like the idea of saving the coins but keeping back the notes for the following week. This week I've allowed much more than usual (£100). but some weeks, I would like to limit my budget to just £10.

AAAAAAAAAND in one fell swoop my budget is blown  lunch yesterday came to £41.70!!!

Now, it was great, don't get me wrong, but the BF organised it, and while he appreciates the bargains I come up with he's not that way inclined himself. Ah well. I still have to go to the theatre this week as well, four of my friends are in the same show and I still haven't bought my ticket. Should be my only other expense, though.

£2.77 spent today on some snacks for work as i am having a down day. I didnt enjoy them so that will teach me.

Nothing else planned so just need to stay out of the shops.

I have even tied my hair up and put my scruffs on to stop me going out and spending money as i am too conscious of how i look to go out.
