Some of these companies trade under multiple names so when you apply to one, you are also allowing your details to be passed to affiliated companies.0

You are NOT being targeted by these loan companies.
They send out many thousands of these texts every day to random numbers, hoping to make a hit.
I've had several in the last few weeks - and I haven't applied for a loan anywhere for more than 10 years."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
I get them all the time and have never applied for a dodgy loan of any description. I also get PPI messages (never had) and 'accident' messages (never had). Pretty much everyone gets them. You may get more than the Average Joe if you've actually applied for products of this type recently.0

If you typed your phone number into any websites, especially any financially-related ones, recently it'll explain why you're attracting more than the rest of us. But I still get them having never done anything to encourage them - they are just desperate sales techniques from desperate companies preying on desperate people.0

Your details are out in the market for people to buy this is why you should always state you don't want your info sharing. Even councils share your info.0

I started getting these yesterday by text message, first time ever and I've never had any loan apart from my mortgage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Really? I guess it's also a matter of how liberally you give out your mobile number. I have a policy of only giving it out to the bank, car insurance, and utilities. Not because I trust them not to sell my details (I don't, especially not the car insurance!), but just in case they genuinely need to contact me, which happens every once in a while. I have a landline account, but don't know the number, and don't even have a handset to use it!
I assume a lot of their contact attempts are also random. The number-generating computers must've took a long time to hit upon your mobile number0 -
change your mobiles numbers for example
dont give your new phone number to anyone do you know like your bank, your family and friends. dont used your new number making application to anyone0 -
Register with http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html
They will accept your landline and mobile numbers but can't stop texts.
It sometimes takes a few weeks for this to make any difference to the number of calls that you are receiving but if you are stll receiving unwanted calls you can complain through
http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/privacy_and_electronic_communications.aspx
In future make sure that in any forms or agreements you opt out of future contact - somtimes you tick a box, sometimes you untick it.
Make sure that you read the privacy policy of any companies that you are dealing with and if you are uncomfortable do not proceed.0
