Hi all
Im posting on behlaf of my uncle as he is not very literate nor is he pc savvy in the slightest but hes asked me to help though i am admittengly a bit out of my depth in this instance.
Back in 2007 he declared himself bankrupt he went through the entire process then afterwards paid the court for paperwork to prove his bankruptcy was finished recently he has been trying to get credit and flatly refused hes been in touch with experian who say that his file is clean but whenever he trys to get credit hes informed that there is a blockage.
Im not sure how i can help or exactly where to start or whom to contact i was hoping somebody here might be able to point me in the right direction ? we have repeatedly contacted experian who just say that everything is ok and theres no problem their end! so i am a bit stuck as to how to proceed
Thanks in advance
Paul

well the first thing that springs to mind is that the bankruptcy will show on his credit files for 6 years so will still be showingHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Ok i will double check i am sure that he paid to have his file cleared or something this is a bit of of my comfort zone to be honest hence posting here thanks for your help ill try and get a lil more info from him0

You don't pay someone to clean up your credit files. There is 3 CRA's that have to be checked as companies don't always go to Experian. Have a look at the Credit Reference Agency Clean Up Post Bankruptcy sticky.
The bankruptcy stays on his credit records for 6 years before dropping off.
What sort of credit is he trying to get? Trying multiple times will also throw up a red flag to lenders.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Rightyo ok im not sure what he did but he mentioned something about paperwork re the bankruptcy order being finished and he had to get a certificate to prove it or something? hes a lil vague which is not helpfull nor has he retained any of his paperwork which really does not help as far as i know hes tried several times to get a contract mobile phone through vodaphone and every time has been told theres a "blockage" but when hes paid to have a credit check they have come back with an ok credit rating so i thought this would be the best place to try and make some sense out of whats occuring thanks to everyone so far for the help
oh and i shall be sure to have a read of the stickys thanks0 -
what he probably means is that he has a good credit score, which he may have, but that means nothing if the bankruptcy still shows on you record which it will do for 6 years, All the certificate he got means is that the bankruptcy has finshed it doesent wipe out teh fact that he hadit in the first place, So probably worth waiting until next year when that drops offHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
