Thanks! I might be persuaded to but the mini-halogen oven if there is 15% off - can't complain for £17.

Well I have even less cause for complaint now - just back from the Canary Wharf store and found out that the discount today is actually 20% (15% for the rest of the BH w/end), so my mini-halogen oven was the bargain price of just £16. I bought over £50 worth of stuff, by the time discounts were applied at the till it came to about £34.

All round, a good start to the w/end. :)

Can you bake cakes in the halogen oven? I've never heard of it before. Have no oven at the moment & desperately want to start baking again.

I plan to give it a go with my smallest cake tin, as I have bought the mini-oven to match my mini-kitchen. The full size one takes up a fait bit of counter space.

To me an oven is for two things - baking cakes, and roasting vegetables - and mine is 11 years old and barely used. My dad has had one for 4 or 5 years now, and uses to cook fish / chicken and vegetables at least 4 lunchtimes a week, and occasionally for snacks (garlic bread, pizza slices etc) in the evenings. I didn't think he'd use it at all, but his integrated oven is actually just an expensive cupboard for baking trays now.

just been to my local Robert Dyas and SA wouldn't put the discount without a voucher. Is it still a bargain at £20? Can I get it cheaper anywhere else?

What store did you go to?

I work for them and in our shop most of us will still put the discount through (sometimes even without the customer requesting it)

I bought some small sized silicone bakeware with the intention of fitting it in the halogen oven but having read this think I'll give it a miss now. I'll make a small qty of scones using the plate function and see how it goes.
