Default??

Options
Hello

I originally defaulted a credit card and loan in 2007, I have made the odd few payment now and again but these feel like they will be with me forever. Ill never get anything again, I was told that these will clear 6 years after the default date, good news I thought, but they wasnt sure if it was 6 years since my last payment to them or from the original date in 2007 (I made a payment last month):(

It is from the date you default. I should know, I had one!

Best to be trying to pay it off though so it shows as satisfied/ settled on your credit file, how much is it for?
  • So it's 2007? And they don't change the date to when I paid last? Both are about 12k but bills and rent to pay on a 22kp/a wage and travel to work I have nothing left

I defaulted in 31/10/05 and it stayed there till 31/10/11. On the 1st Nov I was expecting to be making phone calls/ letters etc to get it removed. But no, I woke up and it had gone! It is irrelevant if you make payment, it is when u default. So 2013 looks good for you, but are you saying you defaulted on 12k*2?=24k?

You earn 22k, nothing left, how much u paying?
  • No 12k for both, I basically have about £15 after bills and travel for work it's proper depressing and crap, better off being on the dole, but got more self respect than doing that. Its just so annoying being bugged by all these phone calls from various solicitors,

If you made a payment last month you have acknowledged the debt and the clock starts from now - so 6 years from now it will become statute barred.

Sorry I had not read the post right and see it has already defaulted - sorry.

The default and all details of the account will be removed from your credit reports 6 years from the default date. So in 2013. No matter what the payment history or status of the account is at that time.

Why do you care when the default will clear, you cant afford a loan anyway!

They are responsible for keeping the outstanding balance up to date on your credit report, although not sure how frequently they have to do this on a defaulted account. this is until it falls off next year, so maybe doesn't matter too much? or do you need to know the balance remaining?
